Artifact I Narrative:
“Camilla Stivers Discussion” discusses Dr. Camilla Stivers's work on women's experiences in the workplace. Class members were highly participatory and contributed to the discussion. By asking for individual experiences from women in the class and sharing my own experiences, this class engaged in a productive discussion of women’s experiences, and many left the session with a greater understanding of other students in the session. This contributed not only to class understanding but also to increased social understanding between class members.

Artifact II Narrative:
Artifact II, “Courts Presentation,” is a presentation given in PAPA 5316 for Dr. Joe Rees and presents the courts' impact on bureaucracy according to Wilsonian theory, satisfying Standard B Objectives One and Two. After using visual slides to convey complex ideas from Wilson’s Bureaucracy, the slides were taken down, and the class was split into discussion groups for a more in-depth, productive discussion of complex ideas and identifying real-world examples. These smaller groups encourage discussion in a more personal setting than a class presentation alone and promote discussion by session members who may not speak up as quickly in larger group settings. I encouraged class participants to respond to prompts with personal experiences, encouraging deeper understanding than a lecture without connections to outside examples.

Artifact III Narrative:
Artifact III, “Manual vs. Intellectual Specialization Slides,” and “Specialization Presentation Script” contain slides and notes from a class presentation given in PAPA 5014 for Dr. Matthew Dull, regarding the rise in specialization in manual vs. intellectual specializations and how those two specializations are valued in society. These artifacts satisfy Standard B Objective Two. As an informational presentation, well-organized PowerPoint slides were used to guide participants and clarify class concepts. Every day, accessible, real-life examples were used to illustrate the distinction between formalized and tacit skills, increasing understanding of complex ideas. Slides and other visuals were also used to convey those complex ideas and enhance the retention of those ideas during the lecture.

Artifact IV Narrative:
Artifact IV, “Samson City Plan Slides” contains the slides and presentation script for a presentation given in PAPA 5044 for Kathleen Guzi, satisfying Standard B: Objectives Two and Three. In this presentation, students were asked to address a new audience and give a presentation as if they were addressing town council as the Town Manager regarding what should be done concerning a prominent business potentially moving out of the city and to the suburbs. Complex ideas were conveyed through clear slides, and a recommendation was made to make sacrifices in the budget to keep the business within the city limits, as well as steps for a Public sector/Private sector partnership with the company to recruit and uplift the communities that would be impacted by the new company structure. The assignments for this class gave me an opportunity to address a new target audience and adjust my presentation format, slides, and tone to reflect that new audience.
